Eight years ago Naperville, Illinois-based Dart Warehouse had an opportunity to become the fulfillment center for Sears.com / Sears Wish Book, fulfilling the multi-Billion dollar retailer's annual holiday orders from its Christmas catalog. To secure the account, they needed to replace their legacy system with a cost-effective, scaleable logistics solution capable of integrating with a wide variety of Host ERP / MRP and automation inventory movement systems. And, having to rebuild their facility from the ground-up with a new warehouse management system as well as racking, conveyors and material handling equipment in just 45 days, they needed it fast.
Faced with this challenge, Dart moved to expand the company's capabilities. Enter Integrated Warehousing Solutions and the IRMS Warehouse Management System. Selected by Dart over other, more costly systems, IRMS was found to be the "best fit" for scalability, cost-effectiveness and operations impact. In fact, a study initiated by Sears.com and conducted by KPMG found that Dart Warehouse had the potential to grow as much as 5,000 times their current level using their warehouse know-how and the IRMS Warehouse Management System.
Integrated Warehousing Solutions has implemented IRMS at Dart Warehouse's 721,000 square foot facility, housing more than 50,000 SKUs - everything from the latest toys to power tools, clothes, educational materials and cookies - from a variety of vendors. Owing to the nature of Dart's business, IRMS implementation has included more than twenty integrations to client Host systems, such as J.D. Edwards, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Lawson, Sigma-Micro, Ecometry and an assortment of large, complex custom-built ERP solutions. For Sears, this has also included SonicMQ implementation as the Enterprise service bus, providing end-to-end visibility for their call centers, purchasing and corporate finance.

Contrasted to 400 employees working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to accomplish the same tasks, this is a 50% productivity gain, a return on investment achieved in the first year of IRMS operation at Dart. Additional benefits have included an incredible .005 shrink rate - down from the industry standard 5% - a 75% reduction in data entry, increased volume with reduced labor costs, a near perfect 100% order fill rate, and 99.99% inventory accuracy.
