Owing to Priority Solutions International's pharmaceutical clients and the critical patient care element of their business, implementation of the IRMS Warehouse Management System for the company has included enhancement of IRMS to meet the rigorous requirements of Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Merck and Schering-Plough and others as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's 21 CFR Part 11 Validation, involving controls for closed systems, electronic records and signatures, and verifiable auditing.
Integrated Warehousing Solutions has been supporting Priority Solutions International's global vision with the implementation of a uniquely-customized IRMS Warehouse Management System. Priority Solutions International, based in Traverse City, Michigan, provides delivery management expertise and services internationally to a demanding client base, including a number of airlines, such as Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, as well as pharmaceutical companies, from Eli Lilly and Company, to Pfizer, Inc. and its new acquisitions, Pharmacia and Searle.
With a phased implementation approach, Integrated Warehousing Solutions first implemented the IRMS Warehouse Management System at the company's Memphis, Tennessee distribution facility. Measuring 125,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility houses primarily lot-controlled pharmaceutical samples and other non-stock kit component inventory. Phase II of the IRMS implementation included customization of the software to accommodate their clients' industry-specific requirements for the government's Price Index/
Producer Price Index (PI/PPI) revision, and implementation of a third-party Billing system as well as Progress WebSpeed.

As part of this engagement, Integrated Warehousing Solutions and the IRMS Warehouse Management System were evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration using Good Automated Manufacturing Process (GAMP4) standards relevant controls and validation for closed systems, automated equipment, and production and process controls. GAMP4 is the most widely used, internationally accepted guideline for validation of computer systems. It was developed for suppliers and users in pharmaceutical manufacturing and related healthcare industries such as biotechnology and medical device. With the audit complete, IRMS is effectively FDA-approved.
