Integrated Warehousing Solutions, a leading provider of Supply Chain execution solutions, has helped JMK/IIT (formerly Illinois Industrial Tool) maintain their dominant market position, with the implementation of the IRMS Warehouse Management System at their primary distribution center. JMK/IIT distributes hardware and other such merchandise to retailers primarily for the do-it-yourself marketplace. Their products include everything from motorized screw drivers and tape measures to spray paint gun holders.
Responding to a new service challenge from one of JMK/IIT's largest customers, a national hardware retailer, Integrated Warehousing Solutions implemented the IRMS Warehouse Management System at JMK/IIT's Illinois-based 175,000 square foot warehouse, housing some 2,000 SKUs. In use by approximately 50 RF users and 20 desktop system users, IRMS as implemented at JMK/IIT is integrated with Best Software's MAS200 ERP system. This, even after two previous warehouse management system implementations on the part of other vendors failed due to integration issues with this popular business accounting software.
Successful implementation of IRMS at JMK/IIT has helped the company increase productivity, reduce cycle time and strike a better balance between service levels and inventory costs in its warehouse operations. Using RF and bar coding along with IRMS, in replacement of the company's manual pull-order system, JMK/IIT now enjoys real-time tracking and updating of inventory information in their receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping operations for improved efficiency and accuracy with a dramatic increase in customer satisfaction.
Running in a Linux environment, JMK/IIT's IRMS implementation ensures the company's inventory is logged correctly at receipt and stored in the correct, most optimal location with real-time updating of inventory levels and automatic replenishment before stock-out can occur, thereby alleviating recurrent difficulties in order fulfillment.
With IRMS, JMK/IIT has not only been able to meet their retail customer's challenge by increasing order turnaround time and all but eliminating shipping errors, but in fact exceed client expectations, resulting in new business and increased revenues. Moreover, the company has recorded 99+% inventory accuracy and a 20% increase in throughput, while reducing labor costs by nearly a third.
