The Progress Company Recognizes Partners for
Stellar Growth and Collaborative Efforts

Bedford, MA -- February 12, 2003 -- The Progress Company, a business unit of Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS - News) and a leading supplier of technology for building business applications, announced today that Carrier Logistics, Encompix, Epicor Software Corp., Integrated Warehousing Solutions, Strategic Information Technology, Skyward Systems and Suncoast Systems, won partnership awards at Progress' North American ISV Kick-off event in Atlanta, Ga. last week. Partners were recognized for their innovative use of Progress(R) OpenEdge(TM) technology, their focus on high-value initiatives, and various collaborative efforts that have allowed them to deliver maximum business value in a stagnant economy.

Winners were selected in five categories:

Partner of the Year - Epicor - Epicor, a leading supplier of enterprise applications for midmarket companies, recognized that their more than 6,000 manufacturing customers could realize significant productivity gains by combining the advanced business logic of their Progress-based applications with the Microsoft .NET desktop user interface. Leveraging this advanced development model, Epicor has also proven that they can successfully deliver a wide range of end-user products using a single set of advanced business logic processes based on the OpenEdge platform.

Fastest Growing Partner - Suncoast Solutions - Suncoast has blended OpenEdge technology with more than 25 years of hospice care experience to create hospice and home health care solutions for customers such as Hospice of Lancaster County, Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, and the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of Buffalo, N.Y. Their applications allow care providers to create complete patient medical records from intake to bereavement with remote tracking that allows visiting staff to update sensitive information for thousands of patients. This dedication and commitment to dramatically improving end-of-life care across America has resulted in a 100 percent client retention rate, 100 new accounts, and an outstanding year-over-year revenue increase of 168 percent.

Visionary Award - SIT and Skyward - Application integration is among the most critical areas for IT management, and two Progress partners have shown that their use of the OpenEdge platform can provide an effective foundation for integrating disparate applications. After implementing SIT's Portfolio Plus as part of their Automated Electronic Approval System for their Loan Application project, AGF Trust, one of Canada's leading financial services institutions, achieved end-to-end integration with a number of heterogeneous systems. This resulted in a single, seamless loan application and investment system that is unique in the industry. When compared to the previous year, this new system provided AGF with a 460 percent increase in the number of loans funded, a 75 percent decrease in approval turnaround time and a 176 percent improved organizational performance per team member.

Using OpenEdge, Skyward Systems introduced the first integrated student and financial management software, giving administrators, educators and families the power of real-time information with a simple point and click(TM). Their application service provider (ASP) solution gives schools, which are constantly facing budget challenges, the ability to rent the technology they need, allowing them to focus more time and money on their number one priority - their students.

Partner Collaboration Award - Carrier Logistics and Integrated Warehousing Solutions - Targeting the transportation industry, CLI reduced costs for their customers through improved efficiencies in dispatching, freight bill entry, mobile data communication, call logging and general ledger. By working with Progress and demonstrating how much faster and more cost effective their Progress-based solutions were, CLI was able to beat out another well-known application vendor to partner with ANC, one of the largest express parcel distribution services in the United Kingdom. This has allowed Carrier Logistics to accelerate their growth through international expansion.

By forming a business alliance with Cutsey Business Systems, another Progress partner and leading provider of retail applications, Integrated Warehousing Solutions was able to implement their award-winning Progress-based distribution solutions in 11 new sites. The ability to quickly integrate their OpenEdge solutions with existing business systems has led to two new contracts for this business alliance in the first quarter of 2003, with another seven sites ready for implementation.

Pioneer Award - Encompix - Encompix provides enterprise resource planning software specifically designed to meet the unique needs of engineer-to-order and project-based manufacturers. The flexibility of the OpenEdge platform has enabled them to quickly tailor their solutions to meet the specialized needs of this market.

"Today's market conditions are very challenging and fiercely competitive. Only companies that can provide real value through tangible, sustainable results will survive," said David Ireland, president of the Progress Company. "By leveraging innovative Progress OpenEdge technology, our application partners are able to offer 5,000 highly tailored applications that meet the unique needs of more than 50,000 organizations worldwide. The North American ISV Awards Program is just one way we recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our partners and demonstrate our commitment to their success."
