IRMS supports both planned and unplanned customer Returns. Planned returns come from the Host system and are processed like normal receipts except the material is routed to the Returns department.
Unplanned returns are those that just show up at the door, and have no prior return authorization in the system. These returns |
are used most often by mail order firms. IRMS allows proper identification and processing of such returns beginning with as little as a partial ZIP code and one of the returned items.
Another type of unplanned return is a return by carrier, or returns considered "undeliverable." With IRMS, after resolution, these returns may be assigned a new tracking (or carton) ID and then re-shipped. Or the package opened, and contents processed as a regular merchandise return.
IRMS also supports vendor returns processing. Merchandise to be returned is entered into the system, along with quantity, warehouse location from which the product is being returned and the affected vendor's RMA number. It is then ready for Picking, Packing and Shipping like any other order.
